TickerTrac’s interpretation

SemiAnalysis's execution claim has additional manufacturing support. Whether Intel can turn that progress into a profitable outside-customer business remains unresolved. SemiAnalysis, August 21, 2026. This review follows the manufacturing claim. It does not attribute a claim of current profitability to the writer. The Q2 filing supports the original sequential figures. External revenue grew from a calculated $174 million to $293 million, or 68.4%. Operating loss narrowed by $348 million to $2.089 billion. Q1 is calculated by subtracting Q2 from the filed first-half totals. These disclosures preceded the August post. Intel Q2 10-Q, Note 2 and Foundry MD&A. Intel had already announced High NA chip-patterning production in its July earnings release. The September 8 Intel/ASML update adds operating detail: tool throughput, availability and pattern alignment were meeting expectations. Use remained limited to selected layers for some Panther Lake processors; the million-wafer total spans certification, testing, R&D and production. We read this as follow-up execution support. The announcement provides no independent yield audit or outside-customer profitability evidence. External revenue includes assembly and test. Altera's transition to an external customer chiefly explains the year-over-year growth; that does not erase the quarter-to-quarter increase. The filing also attributes most year-over-year loss improvement to lower period charges. Neither year-over-year explanation by itself resolves the causes of sequential improvement. Intel Foundry MD&A. Our investment question is whether manufacturing gains produce repeatable outside demand and better economics at an acceptable level of investment. A process milestone can support that path while leaving its commercial outcome uncertain.

What would challenge it

New outside wafer business, production commitments and lower losses driven by operating performance would strengthen the commercial case. Delays, limited customer progress or improvement explained chiefly by charges would weaken confidence in a durable turnaround. Spending belongs beside those measures: lower losses achieved with substantially greater required investment may change the return case.

Horizon: Next financial checkpoint: October 29, 2026, after market close. The original August 21 execution claim did not specify a profitability deadline.

Published 2026-07-24. Note 2 and Intel Foundry MD&A. Q1 values calculated from first-half totals less Q2. This filing predates the August claim. External revenue: first-half $467M less Q2 $293M gives Q1 $174M; sequential growth is 68.4%. Operating loss: first-half $4.526B less Q2 $2.089B gives Q1 $2.437B, a $348M sequential improvement. External revenue includes assembly and test. Altera becoming an external customer chiefly explains year-over-year growth; lower period charges chiefly explain year-over-year loss improvement. Neither alone resolves sequential drivers.

Independent coverage of Aswath Damodaran. The writer has not confirmed this interpretation. No participation or endorsement is implied.

TickerTrac’s interpretation

Damodaran considered the growth and profitability needed to justify NVIDIA’s original $4.3 trillion valuation unlikely. His hurdle was about $590 billion of annual revenue by 2030, implying roughly 26% annual growth. Competition was his concern. The August 2026 results strengthen the growth case; one quarter does not settle its durability or the valuation.

What would challenge it

Sustained growth along the implied path, with durable net margins and capital returns, would weaken the skeptical reading. Slower growth or deteriorating profitability would reinforce it. These are TickerTrac’s checkpoints, not a mechanical verdict. A changed market value requires a fresh calculation.

Horizon: 2030 in the original December 3, 2025 analysis; the company update concerns Q3 fiscal 2027.

Published December 3, 2025. Damodaran judged the required outcome unlikely despite a credible path. His model retained 53.01% net margin and 64.44% return on equity, with a five-year wait, 2% cash yield and 4% perpetual growth; the cost of equity also matters.
