Intel Foundry: checking the execution inflection

SemiAnalysis's execution claim has additional manufacturing support. Whether Intel can turn that progress into a profitable outside-customer business remains unresolved. SemiAnalysis, August 21, 2026. This review follows the manufacturing claim. It does not attribute a claim of current profitability to the writer. The Q2 filing supports the original sequential figures. External revenue grew from a calculated $174 million to $293 million, or 68.4%. Operating loss narrowed by $348 million to $2.089 billion. Q1 is calculated by subtracting Q2 from the filed first-half totals. These disclosures preceded the August post. Intel Q2 10-Q, Note 2 and Foundry MD&A. Intel had already announced High NA chip-patterning production in its July earnings release. The September 8 Intel/ASML update adds operating detail: tool throughput, availability and pattern alignment were meeting expectations. Use remained limited to selected layers for some Panther Lake processors; the million-wafer total spans certification, testing, R&D and production. We read this as follow-up execution support. The announcement provides no independent yield audit or outside-customer profitability evidence. External revenue includes assembly and test. Altera's transition to an external customer chiefly explains the year-over-year growth; that does not erase the quarter-to-quarter increase. The filing also attributes most year-over-year loss improvement to lower period charges. Neither year-over-year explanation by itself resolves the causes of sequential improvement. Intel Foundry MD&A. Our investment question is whether manufacturing gains produce repeatable outside demand and better economics at an acceptable level of investment. A process milestone can support that path while leaving its commercial outcome uncertain.

NVIDIA’s revenue hurdle: progress on growth, valuation still open

Damodaran considered the growth and profitability needed to justify NVIDIA’s original $4.3 trillion valuation unlikely. His hurdle was about $590 billion of annual revenue by 2030, implying roughly 26% annual growth. Competition was his concern. The August 2026 results strengthen the growth case; one quarter does not settle its durability or the valuation.
